The Power of Female Friendship in Fantasy Romance

Fantasy romance is often known for its epic love stories, destined mates, and sweeping romances. But some of my favorite relationships aren’t romantic at all. In Trial By Firebird, one of the most important people in Kate Adrasteia’s life is her best friend, Ana. Their friendship began long before the events of the story and […]
The Hidden Cost of Immortality

If someone offered you immortality, would you take it? At first glance, the answer seems obvious. More time. More experiences. More opportunities to accomplish your dreams. But in Trial By Firebird, immortality comes with a price. For Kate Adrasteia, that price is memory. Having lived multiple lives, she carries the weight of loss, heartbreak, and […]
Found Family vs Blood Family: Which Shapes Us More?

We’re often told that family is everything. But what happens when the people who support us most aren’t related to us at all? This is a question I explore throughout Trial By Firebird. Kate’s family is bound by blood, history, and shared responsibility. Her brother Abaddon has spent centuries protecting and guiding his younger siblings, […]
Ancient Gods in the Modern World: How Would They Survive Today?

Throughout history, many cultures worshipped powerful beings they believed were gods. But what if those beings never disappeared? In the world of the Immortals, powerful immortals have existed for thousands of years. Some were revered as gods, feared as monsters, or remembered through myths and legends that survived long after the truth was forgotten. Characters […]
The Myth of Soulmates: Destiny, Choice, and Second Chances

Few romantic ideas are as powerful or as dangerous as the belief in soulmates. We’ve all heard the story. Somewhere out there is one perfect person destined for us. Once we find them, everything falls into place. Love becomes effortless. Happiness becomes guaranteed. It’s a beautiful idea. It’s also a myth. That may sound strange […]
Meet the Adrasteia Family: The Immortals Behind the Story

At the center of Trial By Firebird is a family unlike any other.
The Adrasteias are Firebirds rare immortals capable of being reborn from their own ashes. Over centuries, they’ve witnessed empires rise and fall, survived unimaginable loss, and carried the weight of responsibilities few could understand.
Yet despite their extraordinary abilities, they’re still a family. They argue, worry, tease one another, and would do almost anything to protect those they love.
Kate Adrasteia is the heroine of Trial By Firebird. Compassionate, stubborn, and haunted by memories of a previous life, she’s determined to find answers about her past while struggling to believe she deserves a future.
Abaddon Adrasteia is the eldest sibling and the family’s protector. Having spent centuries looking after his brothers and sisters, he carries the burden of leadership with fierce dedication. If you threaten his family, you’ll quickly discover why many once viewed him as something far more terrifying than a man.
Aquila “Qui” Adrasteia is the youngest sister and arguably the kindest. Her heart is so big that she often puts the needs of others before her own, whether they’re mortal or immortal.
Ayperos Adrasteia, Kate’s younger brother, remains one of the family’s greatest mysteries. Though absent, his loss continues to shape those who love him.
What makes the Adrasteias special isn’t their immortality.
It’s their loyalty to one another.
No matter how many lifetimes pass, no matter how far they are scattered, family remains the one thing worth fighting for.
And in Trial By Firebird, that fight is only beginning.
